Kenneth Rexroth: July 2, 1974
The Poetry Center presents Kenneth Rexroth, reading from his poetry and from his translations from classic Japanese poetry. The poet reads from a span of his work, including the sequence Sky Sea Birds Trees Earth House Beasts Flowers (Unicorn Press, 1973). Rexroth's translations, made with Ikuku Atsumi, of the Japanese poets he reads, Marichiko and Akiko, would be collected in the subsequent bilingual English-Japanese edition The Burning Heart: Women Poets of Japan (Seabury Press, 1977). The reading takes place at Intersection for the Arts, at its North Beach location on Union Street in San Francisco.
