David Brazil reads "Tombstone Blues," Rebecca Eland reads from Arrives, then Steady Pace with the Hour (Plein Air Editions, 2016), Sara Larsen reads from Merry Hell (Atelos, 2016), and Andrew Schelling reads a mixture of published and unpublished works. The Poetry Center presents Layli Long Soldier and Truong Tran reading and in conversation. Layli Long Soldier reads from Whereas (Graywolf Press, 2017), along with unpublished work. Truong Tran reads new poems in manuscript. The readings are followed by a conversation with the audience. During March 2017, all Poetry Center programs were dedicated to the theme "Because We Come from Everything: Poetry and Migration," shared with 30+ organizations across the US engaged in the Poetry Coalition.
The Poetry Center and the UC Berkeley Department of English co-present this celebration of the publication of Lucia Berlin's A Manual for Cleaning Women: Selected Stories by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2015, with readings of her work by her friends and fellow writers Stephen Emerson, Gloria Frym, August Kleinzahler, and Mimi Pond at the Maud Fife Room in Wheeler Hall, UC Berkeley.
