The Poetry Center presents Jerome Rothenberg, reading and in conversation. Rothenberg reads works from several of his books, including Flower World Variations (revised, expanded edition, The Operating System, 2017), Eye of Witness: A Jerome Rothenberg Reader (Black Widow Press, 2013), China Notes & the Treasures of Dunhuang (Ahadada Books, 2006), and A Field on Mars: Divagations & Autovariations, Poems 2000-2015 (PURH, 2015), plus a new poem and a poem previously published in the online magazine Jacket2. The reading is followed by a conversation with the audience.
The Poetry Center presents Spring 2019 Mazza Writer in Residence Juliana Delgado Lopera and Joseph Cassara, reading and in conversation. Delgado Lopera reads from the beginning chapter of her highly anticipated multilingual first novel Fiebre Tropicale (forthcoming from The Feminist Press at CUNY, 2020). Cassara then reads a scene from the middle, and one from end of his award winning first novel, The House of Impossible Beauties (HarperCollins Publishers, 2018). Afterwards, a conversation ensues between the artists, as well as with the audience.
The Poetry Center presents R.O Kwon and Nona Caspers, reading and in conversation. Nona Caspers introduces then reads excerpts from her recently published book The Fifth Woman (Sarabande Books, 2018). R.O. Kwon introduces at length then reads excerpts from her debut novel The Incendiaries (Riverhead Books, 2018). The reading is followed by a conversation with the audience, moderated by Carolina De Robertis, Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at San Francisco State University.
