KRON-TV News footage from April 18th 1974 in San Francisco featuring a press conference with the Rev. Cecil Williams, who questions the motives and outcomes of SFPD's stop and search policy on African American men, as part of the 'Zebra' operation. At one point Williams draws a comparison with SFPD's investigation of the Zodiac killer, when it was made known they were confident the suspect was a caucasian male. There are interviews with African American men on the street, who object to this police strategy and Mayor Alioto's support for it. Includes scenes from a press conference in which an officer emphasizes that this outreach work is not intended as a substitute for their recent stop and question tactics but hopes it: "May ease the pressure that's being brought on the community." This is in reference to SFPD's tactic of stopping and questioning African American men and then issuing them with I.D. cards, to confirm they've been questioned about the Zebra case. KPIX-TV Eyewitness News report from April 23rd 1974 by Ed Arnow featuring scenes from a press conference by San Francisco's Mayor Joseph Alioto, who is trying to defend SFPD's policy of stop and search being enacted on young African American men, as an attempt to crack the Zebra murders case. At one point he admits racial tensions in the city are high and that initially some officers were using this tactic as an excuse to collect traffic warrants, an abuse which he says was quickly stopped. Also includes an interview with Supervisor Terry Francois, who believes that Mayor Alioto will regret supporting his police department's strategy of stop and question. KRON-TV News footage from January 31st 1974 featuring an interview by Mike Mills with Art Agnos, who remembers the December 13th 1973 attack on him in San Francisco by a man who is thought to be one of a group being referred to as the Zebra killers. Agnos was then a member of the California Commission on Aging and was shot twice in the back after attending a meeting in the Portrero Hill neighborhood. Agnes was seriously wounded by this shooting and when asked if the experience will deter him from going back on the streets, he replies: "If anything it's gonna just put me back on the street working as hard as I can to continue developing programs that the community thinks they need. So that we can establish the services that people need to put an end to the kinds of conditions that would lead ... a group of men ... to hate somebody so much to do this." KRON-TV news footage from October 20th 1973 featuring a report by Bob Jimenez on the murder of Quita Hague and attack on her husband Richard Hague. Jimenez is shown walking near the corner of 25th and Minnesota in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, close to where Quita Hague's body was dumped. He states: "This is a puzzling murder for San Francisco police because it was almost execution-like. They call it an isolated incident but the investigation remains under cover and police will say nothing more." This was the first attributed murder by a group of Black Muslims called the Death Angels and this series of murders in 1973/4 came to be known as the Zebra murders.
