George Mason Murray Press Conference

KPIX-TV news footage from September 19, 1968 with reporter Ben Williams featuring scenes from a press conference by San Francisco State College English professor and Black Panther Education Minister George Mason Murray, in which he explains the scope of his teaching duties  and expresses a belief he is being attacked by the college and the State's power structures because of his outspoken membership of the Black Panther Party. Also includes an interview with college President Robert Smith, who describes Murray's previous teaching assignments but refuses to comment on the political pressures surrounding his re-appointment. Murray ends by clarifying his political stand on the Vietnam War by claiming that: "The war in Vietnam is racist. It is a war that crackers like Johnson are using black soldiers and poor white soldiers and Mexican soldiers as dupes and fools, to fight against people of color in Vietnam who've never called black people nigger."
