Includes views of crowds and speeches by Senator Jack McCarthy, Senator George Miller, Jr., John McInnis and Governor Goodwin Jess Knight, who declares: "This is modern efficiency ... this tremendous structure is ample evidence of the manner in which we do things under the American system of free enterprise and under the California way ... Ladies and gentlemen, California is still going forward!"

I was also there that day.  I remember we were allowed to walk the bridge.  We did. (part way)  I was 18 at the time, 73 now.  What a thrill.  I also have a b & w picture of the ferry boat "Klamath" taken from the deck of it's sister ferry.  How fast the time has passed!

what a day in american history that was ! That has got to be the most beautiful bridge in the world ! I was there that day and i vividly remember certain bridge paraphenellia LAYING around, especially some ash- trays with a picture of the bridge on them. Does anyone else remember that stuff?
