Native Americans Protest Draft
About This Item
KPIX Eyewitness News report from November 30th 1973 featuring a press conference protesting against the Vietnam draft, in which Janet McCloud demands that all those being held against their will by the armed forces be released. She points out that whilst many Native Americans enlisted to fight in World War II, they had a choice to do so in most cases. She also goes on to explain that now: "Many young white people are finding ways to get out of this but they still need the men. So they come on our Indian reservations and take every eligible young man ... Every one of them!"
