A KRON-TV special program commemorating the 100th anniversary of Stanford University, presented by Jerry Graham on May 12th 1987. Includes interviews with pioneering alumni and faculty that include: Dr Norman Shumway (heart transplants); Dr Paul Berg (gene research); Dr Sally Ride (first woman in space); Bill Hewlett; Dr Sydney Drell; Dave Guard (and The Kingston Trio); Jim Plunkett (quarterback for the Oakland Raiders); Sandra Day O'Connor (Supreme Court judge); Senator Alan Cranston; David Harris; Ken Kesey; Russ Dilts and many others. Also features archival photographs including a shot of Dianne Feinstein on a golf course (25:13) and film which is used to relate the college's history from it's foundation in 1887 by Leland and Jane Stanford, to the present day. Ends by considering what exactly is the purpose of a college in today's society. This program was written and produced by Pam Rorke Levy.
