History of Early Involvement between KPIX & KQED (1951-3)

About This Item

Scanned PDF extract from an historical account of KQED's first 40 years in television by Jay Yamada, titled: 'Chronological History of KQED - 40th Anniversary Edition' (1994). This includes details of KPIX's General Manager Philip J. Lasky's personal interest in the development of KQED. Of particular note is a quotation attributed to KQED's General Manager Jim Day (1919-2008), referenced in the entry for March 25th 1953 (page 4), relating to KQED's purchase of it's first operational transmitter: "The man who negotiated all this was ... Phil Lasky, who constantly reminded our audience that he gave the transmitter to KQED."
