American Indians swim onto Alcatraz island

KRON News report from November 9th 1969 by Mike Mills featuring scenes of American Indian activists dancing on San Francisco's Vista Pier, catching a ride on the Monte Cristo yacht and swimming over to Alcatraz Island (in one case being pulled out of San Francisco Bay onto a boat). Also includes views of Mohawk Richard Oakes reading a proclamation to reporters (with Al Miller) and of Adam Fortunate Eagle on the Monte Cristo. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.

Note: this 16mm film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in November 2021. Film shrinkage was measured in Nov. 2021 at 0.28%. The film print is in the Special Collections vault.
