White College Students Support Black Community
About This Item
KRON News footage from September 29th 1966, featuring scenes of college students picketing outside San Francisco City Hall, in protest against the calling out of National Guard in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. Includes an interview with one protestor who states that: "No white people ever come out and show sympathy and cameraderie with black people when they try and protest their condition. So we feel this is one role that white college students can play. I mean we can't very well go into the ghetto ... because, you know, we'd be stoned also." Many placards are seen being carried, one of which reads: "To End Poverty Shoot the Poor?"
