Senator Cranston Visits Hunters Point
About This Item
KPIX Eyewitness News report from April 2nd 1973 by Bob Tutt in San Francisco featuring scenes from a visit by Senator Alan Cranston to the Bayview Hunters Point urban renewal project. Cranston points out in a speech that $79 million in Federal funds that the city expected to complete this local housing project with was lost as part of a $1.2 billion national cut on housing over two years that President Nixon approved. He goes on to express his belief that "extravagant overseas spending" needs to be addressed, in order to restore such domestic cuts. Also includes views of the urban renewal project and the older housing in Bayview Hunters Point.
