KPIX Eyewitness News report from February 16th 1973 by Bill Hillman featuring scenes of Navy Lt. Commander Everett Alvarez, Jr. being welcomed home at Travis Air Force Base in Solano County (California), after being held for over 8 years in captivity by the North Vietnamese. On August 5th, 1964, during Operation Pierce Arrow, Alvarez's plane was shot down in the immediate aftermath of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. Includes views of Alvarez making a speech in which he states that: "We dreamed of this day and we kept faith. Faith in God, in our President and in our country. It was this faith that maintained our hope ... We have come home."
