Press Conference with Andy Warhol, Nico & Gerard Malanga
About This Item
KTVU news footage from late May 1966 with reporter Carlton Cordell featuring brief scenes from a press conference in San Francisco with Andy Warhol, Nico (born Christa Päffgen) and Gerard Malanga, who are playing two nights at Bill Graham's Fillmore Club with The Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Warhol seems faintly bemused by Cordell's question: "Can you tell me what you do ... or what the group does?" Ends with views of a young audience looking amused and of Cordell taking notes. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
Note: this 16mm film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in January 2022.
