About This Item

KTVU News footage from July 16th 1968 featuring brief scenes from a press conference by Mayor Joseph Alioto and comedian Woody Allen. Allen is currently shooting scenes from his new film 'Take the Money and Run' in San Francisco and Alioto thanks him: "For making this donation of $5000 towards the city's social causes. You've made it out to 'The Hunters Point Foundation Inc." Allen cautions Alioto in a lighthearted fashion: "You won't lose that now ... Put it in your inside pocket." It should be noted that in a KPIX-TV report from August 1968, reporter Mike Lee states that Allen's donation was used to help build the Martin Luther King Memorial outdoor swimming pool in Bayview Hunters Point.
