This is from when John Brodie had signed with the Houston Oilers of the American Football League for nearly a million dollars over four years. Brodie was vacationing with his family in Hawaii when word had gotten out. This action sped up the merger of the NFL and AFL with one of the conditions that Brodie's contract with the Oilers would be voided.
