Scenes from a fiery speech by politician Willie Brown on July 11th 1972 in support of Senator George McGovern's bid to win the Presidential nomination, at the Democratic National Convention in Miami Beach, Florida. At one point Brown implores his audience: "For one time in our lives this convention should hear from grassroots poor Democrats ... Give me back my delegation!" Also includes views of the crowd's reaction to this landmark speech, on the floor of the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Note: this speech is sourced from a 3/4-inch Umatic videotape dub, that was passed to SF State in the Willie Brown Collection. We don't know who produced the footage. Please contact the film archivist if you can provide any relevant information.
