Episode from KRON-TV's Decades series made in 1997 which uses original news footage and contemporary interviews to reflect on Bay Area history from the 1940s, including issues relating to: the rapid growth of San Francisco; the Golden Gate International Exposition; World War II; sports; the ship building industry; the internment of Japanese American citizens; the movies and the United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO). Also features interviews with: Herb Caen; Edmund G. Brown, Sr.; Anna Logan Upton; Precious Mack; Dave Tatsuno; K. Morgan Yamanaka; Rose Pistola and Milli Robbins. This program was written and produced by Pamela Rorke-Levy, edited by Susan Burgess-Lent and narrated by Sidney Walker. This Emmy Award winning series traced the rich history of San Francisco throughout the Twentieth Century. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
