A religious happening in Haight-Ashbury
About This Item
KTVU News report from c1966 with Claud Mann featuring scenes from a visit by a large group of local ministers to the Haight-Ashbury district in San Francisco. As they walk along the block one minister explains to Mann: "We have a real concern for the welfare of these people, their souls for whom Christ died. We believe that we have something that they're looking for and they haven't found yet." Another minister asks a young man: "Does life have a meaning for you right now ... What is the meaning?" He replies: "Survive. To live ... And have fun." Includes many views of the ministers interacting with mostly young people on the streets. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
