U.S. Prisoners of War Return To Travis Air Force Base

KRON-TV News footage from March 17th 1973 featuring scenes of Lt. Colonel Robert L. Stirm and others arriving home at Travis Air Force Base in Solano County, after spending years as prisoners of war in North Vietnam. These U.S. servicemen were released as part of Operation Homecoming and Stirm's family reunion on the tarmac was captured by Associated Press photographer Slava "Sal" Veder, in a Pulitzer Prize winning photograph called 'Burst of Joy'. There are also views of other servicemen greeting their families including Lt. Carl Dennis Chambers and a brief interview with Stirm. This 16mm color reversal film print was re-scanned in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in August 2024.

I am a personal friend of Robert L Stirm, Col, USAF (ret), who is featured in this video.  He lives near Travis AFB. I will show this video to him as he can identify any of the POWs.  Do you have more video of his return?  I know he would be very interested to see it.
