KPIX News report from November 30th 1967 with Jim Anderson featuring scenes from an interview with a man who discusses the Jewish community's reaction to so called popular "hippie" culture. He states: "The hippie thing is very new among Jews. We've been accustomed to other kinds of parental conflict ... This is a really new kind of thing ... It doesn't seem to grow out organically (so to speak) from, you know, the reality of the older people." He goes to to reflect how the idealistic and spiritual aspirations of some hippies might be: "A very useful sort of, how shall I say, heresy." Please note this repoert was originally titled "Jewish Hippies" in the KPIX News Shot Log. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
