Sony Introduces Home Video Recorder (1966)

KPIX News special report by Jim Anderson from 1966, featuring a look at Sony's latest "home video recorder" unit at the annual show of the Hi-Fi Institute, in San Francisco's Civic Center. A Sony spokesman explains that the owner of this equipment can record TV shows or make their own home movies but not to broadcast picture quality standards. These video recorders retail for $995 and over 1000 have already been sold to consumers.
