Warren Beatty on Gun Control Legislation
About This Item
KPIX News footage from July 6th 1968 featuring scenes of actor and filmmaker Warren Beatty making an appeal to crowds in a baseball stadium to support proposed gun legislation, that would require the licensing of owners, the registration of all guns and the banning of mail order sales. He is met by considerable resistance from the crowd in the form of loud jeering but goes on to finish by stating: "If you're for it, then I urge you in the name of John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers and the 198 people who were killed in this country last week by guns to write a letter!"
