KPIX News report from July 11th 1978 by Ed Arnow at the San Francisco Hall of Justice, where writer Armistead Maupin is shown at a press conference. SFPD's Inspector Dave Toschi (lead investigator for 9 years on the Zodiac killer case) admitted to sending fake fan letters about himself to Maupin in the Fall of 1976 but denies Maupin's recent observation that this correspondence resembed in tone the latest letter from the Zodiac killer, from April 1977. Toschi denies any involvement with the Zodiac letter and has been taken off the Zodiac case and re-assigned to the Pawn and Burglary Department. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
