Lois Tinson, Secretary-Treasurer of California Teachers Association, responds to Dr. Stuart Gotthald and Frank Fekete's comments on the issues impacting California education and teachers, addressing what she believes teachers need in order to meet the challenges they are confronted with in the teaching profession. Rudy Castruita, Superintendent of Santa Ana Unified School District, proposes a platform for making urban schools more like community centers.
