Meadens Offer Free Cleaning on Flag Day (1958)
About This Item
KPIX-TV news footage from June 13th 1958 featuring a visit to Meaden's Cleaning Laundry at Spruce and Geary in San Francisco's Jordan Park neighborhood. The owner has made a special offer to clean flags for free because: "We wanted to have a clean flag for flag day." So far they have completed 50-75 flags. A large swastika flag was delivered that morning and they hold it up to the camera. Reporter Fort Pearson also asks if it's appropriate to clean the Stars and Stripes. Note that the building which used to house this business is now a parking lot for a Toyota garage. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
