Compilation of KCRA, KXTV, and KOVR news reports relating to legislation compensation and benefits established and recommended by the California Citizens Compensation Commission, a committee formed after Proposition 112 passed in June 1990. Even in the midst of a budget crisis Speaker Willie L. Brown, Jr. claims the increases proposed by the committee are not enough. Also includes: KOVR news report relating to the impact of Proposition 140 (Term Limits); KRBK and KCRA news reports relating to the television equipment scandal. Speaker Brown proposed purchasing over a million dollars in equipment to film and broadcast assembly sessions on cable television, believing there was not enough good coverage of legislative activity; KTXL news report relating to legislative training sessions in ethics; KCRA news report relating to the new bills introduced at the start of the 1991 session including anti-smoking measures; and KOVR news report relating to the FBI investigation looking into the suspicion that Speaker Brown was accepting campaign contributions from NorCal Waste System in exchange for helping the company build a dump in Solano County, despite Solano County rejecting the proposal several years earlier.
