Marin City Residents Protest Against Housing Authority
About This Item
KPIX-TV news footage from December 14th 1971 with reporter Evan White featuring scenes from a meeting between Marin City residents and the Marin Board of Supervisors at the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael. The residents are presenting a petition signed by 400 people calling for the abolition of the Marin Redevelopment Agency and the Marin Housing Authority, who they claim have excluded them from importnant decision making over land use in their unincorporated community. Includes interviews with residents and a spokesman for the Redevelopment Agency, who comment on the Supervisors ruling that confirmation of the land swap deal in question will be delayed for one month allowing for consultation with the community, which is supposed to guarantee their participation in any future development. Note that both audio and picture quality on the original 16mm film print are low. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
