Philip Lasky On Setting Up KPIX-TV

KPIX-TV special report from 1948 featuring an interview with Vice president and General Manager of KPIX-TV Philip J. Lasky. Stood in front of a TV camera, the interviewer (representing San Francisco's Chamber of Commerce) begins by saying: "I want to congratulate you Mr. Lasky upon the arrival in San Francisco of this very fine equipment. I hope it brings television to San Francisco Bay Area a lot sooner than it would've otherwise." Lasky also confirms that a shipment of steel is on its way to help construct Ch.5's transmitter on the Mark Hopkins Hotel and they expect to have KPIX on the air by December. Note that KPIX began broadcasting on December 22nd 1948. Ends with silent views of TV broadcast equipment being loaded onto an airplane. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
