Eldridge Cleaver Released From Vacaville

KRON-TV news footage from June 12th 1968 featuring a press conference with the Black Panther Party's Minister of Information Eldridge Cleaver, who has been imprisoned at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville since April 6th, following a gun battle with police in Oakland. Cleaver was released on the order of Superior Court Judge Raymond J. Sherwin and his attorney Charles Garry explains points of law which led to this action. Cleaver talks about: his experiences in jail; the right to express our political beliefs; the Panther Party's plans to set Huey P. Newton free from jail; Oakland Police Chief Charles Gain and his intention to seek the Peace and Freedom Party's Presidential nomination.
