John Trudell on arrow firing incident
KRON-TV news footage from August 14th 1970 featuring brief scenes from a press conference at Fisherman's Wharf by John Trudell (1946-2015), a member of the Santee Sioux, in which he gives the American Indians occupying Alcatraz Island's version of events about when an arrow was fired at a passing ferry boat. He claims this was related to safety issues which were being ignored by ferry operators and the Coast Gaurd and: "With one 42 cent arrow we stopped it." Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
