Jack Benny on Ronald Reagan

About This Item

KTVU news footage from March 4th 1968 featuring brief scenes from a press conference with comedian Jack Benny, who is asked to comment about Governor Ronald Reagan's transition from showbusiness into politics. He states: "People ask well how can a fella walk right in from showbusiness to politics? Well Reagan didn't do that because I can go back 35 years and talk about house parties, you know, we'd all meet. Everybody else in the world would be talking either showbusiness or aeroplanes. That's all they knew. Reagan was the only one that talked politics ... He wouldn't shut up!" Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
