About This Item
KRON-TV news footage from September 2nd 1970 with reporter Myra Scott featuring scenes from a press conference by the San Francisco waterfront, where a spokesman for the NEGRO group explains how they'd like to try and broker an agreement between American Indians occupying Alcatraz Island and the Federal governemnt. Also includes views of the island and an interview with Regional Director of the US government's General Services Administration Thomas E. Hannon, who states that there is no plan to remove the American Indians from Alcatraz. Ends with footage from the Fall of 1969 which we think KRON used as stock footage to put this story into context, after 9 months of Alcatraz being occupied. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
