Sirhan Sirhan moved to a better cell on San Quentin's death row

About This Item

KPIX-TV news footage from February 2 1972 with reporter Frank Goran featuring a brief report on how San Quentin death row inmate Sirhan Sirhan - convicted in 1969 for the assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy - has been moved to a better cell. Goran explains using voice-over (and with illustrative floor plans of the San Quentin blocks and cells in question) that Sirhan has been moved from his former highly restricted quarters on "Death Row 1" to the larger and more relaxed accomodation of "Death Row 3", which also allows him to take regular outdoor exercise with other inmates. Ends with scenes from an interview with San Quentin officer Joseph O'Brien, who states that Sirhan seems to be getting along quite well with his fellow inmates and has adjusted to prison life over the past 3 years. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
