Barbara Boxer on traffic fines

About This Item

KPIX-TV news footage from March 22 1977 with reporter Pat O'Brien featuring an interview with Marin County Supervisor Barbara Boxer, who describes how two San Rafael policemen recently came to her home in Greenbrae at night, to collect a $75 unpaid fine for a driving infraction. Includes brief scenes from a hearing at the Marin County Board of Supervisors, where O'Brien tells us that Boxer's proposals to change how fines will be collected were approved. There is also an interview with San Rafael's Chief of Police Frank Benaderet (1938-2015), who objects to how the incident at Boxer's home was portrayed and the manner in which changes to police procedure are being enacted. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
