Proliferation of street vendors in San Francisco

KRON-TV news footage from September 20 1974 with reporter Jack Bates stating that 873 permits to sell crafts on the strees of San Francisco have already been issued. He goes on to explain that local police aren't intending to verify the status of people who apply for licenses and street artists are complaining that "legitimate artisans" are finding it difficult to compete with out-of-town vendors, selling pre-manufactured products.
