Street Artists want the legal right to peddle in San Francisco
About This Item
KPIX-TV news footage from April 18 1973 with reporter Christopher Chow featuring scenes of street artists advocating for their right to peddle in San Francisco, including views of mimes handing out literature and of a puppet show. Chow explains in voice-over that after being consistently denied permits to sell by police over the past 2.5 years the artists are pushing for a measure to be placed on the November ballot, which would afford them a legal right to sell crafts on public streets by paying a license fee. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
