Minority Groups Conference

About This Item

KRON-TV new footage from November 18 1966 featuring scenes from what KRON-TV referred to in their original newsfilm shot-log as a "Minority Groups Conference." Includes an interview with a man who states he agrees with Stokely Carmichael (who was visiting the Bay Area) that "Black Power" should inspire "a sense of pride" in "blackness" but disagrees in that movement staying separate from the rest of society. Ends with an interview in which a man talks about working with people and "giving your clients a fair shake." We are as yet unable to identify this event in the Bay Area or the individuals being interviewed. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.

Note: this reversal print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in July 2021.
