KRON-TV silent news footage from March 5 1965 in Foster City, featuring views of actress Joan Fontaine cutting a ribbon to help dedicate the "rainbow" bridge across the east lagoon leading to the new Port of California shopping center. Foster City in San Mateo County was founded in the 1960s on the existing Brewer Island and landfill. Also features views of the Chairman of San Mateo County's Supervisors William M. Werder and of Fontaine smashing a bottle of champagne on the bridge and getting sprayed by its contents in the wind. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
