KQED news footage from May 2, 1980 with reporter Belva Davis featuring scenes of civil rights activist Rosa Parks visiting the Oakland Community School in Oakland, as part of a fundraising program for Highlander Research and Educational Center near Knoxville, TN. Includes views of Rosa Park answering questions on-stage about citizenship and watching a play performed by students which depicts her arrest on December 1, 1955 when Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, AL. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
Note: this 16mm film print was re-transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in January 2022. Film shrinkage was measured in January 2022 at 0.35%.
