Color, silent 16mm film shot in 1974-5 featuring scenes of filmmakers of the Mission Film Workshop, artists and musicians filming each other and practicing shot composition, focus and other filmmaking basics in the Mission District of San Francisco. Shot inside a rented Victorian flat on Harrison and 25th Street, there are views of: Benny Rescate sketching and playing saxophone; Sara Ortiz seen in a mirror; Mercedes Soberon walking into a room and playing saxophone on a bench in Garfield Park and of Ana Montano looking at photos by Puerto Rican photographer Adal Maldonado. Produced by the Mission Film Workshop, with permission kindly granted by The Ray Balberan Mission MediaArts Archive to screen on this website. This footage was shot by Mercedes Soberon, Sara Ortiz and Ana Montano. Special thanks to Ana Montano for providing contextual detail. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
Note: this 16mm film print was re-transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in October 2021. Film shrinkage was measured in October 2021 at 0.30%.
