San Francisco State Strike Ends
KPIX-TV news footage from March 20, 1969 with reporter Ed Arnow featuring scenes from the campus of San Francisco State College, where Benny Stewart of the Black Student Union officially declares the end of the student strike at a press conference. Stewart goes on to qualify this announcement by insisting: “The struggle to end institutionalized racism … is not over but will be intensified … What did we gain by the strike? … Look in your high schools in San Francisco, Los Angeles and 125 universities all over the country, it’s just beginning!” Also includes views of the campus, of strikers filing into a conference room and of another spokesman addressing crowds.
