Sheriff Don Striepeke on Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders (KRON)
About This Item
KRON-TV news footage from April 25 1975 with reporter Dick Courier featuring scenes from a press conference by Sheriff Don Striepeke (1929-1988) in Santa Rosa, about the Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders. At least 6 or 7 young women were murdered while hitchiking around Santa Rosa between 1972-73 and Striepeke thinks there are possible connections to 13 other unsolved Califonia murders (and others in western states). Courier explains that Striepeke has been consulting with an investigator and a "witchcraft teaching psychiatrist" to produce a composite of the suspect. Courier also states that the Sheriff: "Is careful in his references to the Zodiac" as many lawmakers disagree that the Zodiac killer is a possible suspect in this case.
