Balboa High School students visit Capuchino High School (1968)

KTVU news footage from March 20 1968 with reporter Carlton Cordell featuring scenes from Capuchino High School in San Bruno, where 160 seniors and juniors from Balboa High School are visiting for the day, as an experiment in social interaction and racial integration. This idea was developed by two social studies teachers: Ken LaCrosse of Capuchino and Gene Phillips of Balboa and was a return visit, after 36 Capuchino seniors had already visited Balboa for a day in February. Also includes interviews with students from both schools and one Balboa student states: "Well I think that they've learned our side of the story which is a a story that they've been denied here since the population of negroes seems to be very small and a minority. And I think that both sides have gained something and I hope that we can get to do it again."
