Fatal mid-air collision over the San Ramon Valley

KRON-TV news footage from June 3, 1977 with reporter John Fulmer featuring scenes of a plane crash site 10 miles south of Danville, just south of the Crow Canyon Road-Highway 680 interchange in Contra Costa County. Two 2-seat Cessna 150 Commuters out of the Sierra Academy of Aeronautics, based at Oakland International Airport, collided in mid-air at an altitude of several thousand feet on June 2, killing all 3 passengers (including Richard Merrick and Alan Roberts). With views of people inspecting aircraft wreckage in an empty field, a walnut orchard and on a hillside - and a brief interview with eyewitness David Svihula, who describes what he and his friends saw to Fulmer. This 16mm film print was remastered in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in May 2022.
