Interview with long-distance cyclist Heinz Stücke (1971)
About This Item
KRON-TV news footage from March 26, 1971 with reporter Mike Mills featuring scenes from an interview with long-distance cyclist Heinz Stücke in downtown San Francisco. Stücke cycled out of his hometown in Germany - Hövelhof - in 1962 and explains he's travelling so extensively around the world: "For the sake of getting to know the place." Stücke also speculates that he will return home to Germany in a year or so but in fact didn't cycle back to Hövelhof until 2014... Ends with views of Stücke cycling off towards the Bay Bridge. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
