Threat of mass walkout by nurses continues

KPIX-TV news footage from June 1966 with reporter Rollin Post opening with silent views of nurses meeting in San Francisco, as the Bay Area faces the threat of a mass walkout by nurses protesting against low wages. Post describes recent developments and interviews President of the San Francisco Hospital Conference Earl Horton, who admits that hospitals can't operate without nurses. Post also talks to Staff Chairman of the Mount Zion Hospital nurses Karen Hinehold, who states that nurses feel now is the time to take action on this issue. Post ends by pointing our that: "If the nurses stay mad and continue with their plans to resign, they could shut down Bay Area hospitals, just as medicare is increasing the demands on these insitutions.
