Robert Shields interviewed in Union Square

About This Item

KPIX-TV news footage from August 24, 1973 with reporter Ed Arnow featuring scenes from San Francsico's Union Square, where popular mime artist Robert Shields is entertaining crowds. When Arnow asks what it feels like to return to San Francisco after performing in New York, Shields is quick to emphasize that: "There's no place like San Francisco. I love it here. I love the people. I love the feeling. I love the pure kind of theater. No matter how big I get, I'm always gonna come back here." Note that Shields was in Bay Area with his wife and stage partner Lorene Yarnell, to perform shows at the Veterans Memorial Building in Marin County, before setting off for Sydney, Australia.
