KPIX-TV news footage from October 30, 1969 with reporter Belva Davis featuring a report by California Indian Legal Services, after its first year of operation. We are told: "The report concluded that the Indian people of California have struggled to survive against great odds and their legal problems are complicated and have grown worse during a century of neglect." Includes a press conference with attorney Neil Levy, who works out of the Berkeley office and claims that Federal funding allocated to Native Americans is effectively being "squandered" by a dysfunctional bureaucracy. Another colleague identifies government agencies as being the main source of their client's legal problems and states they have law suits pending against all levels of government agencies.
