About This Item
KPIX-TV news footage from November 24, 1969 with reporter Pat O'Brien featuring scenes from a press conference by cultural anthroplogist Margaret Mead (1901-1978). Mead talks about the need to intensify agricultural production and reduce population growth, to address the issue of mass starvation. When she is asked: "How do you see the role of women changing in the future," Mead refers to: "A new revolution that will free women, as the agricultural revolution freed men."
